Cemetery Advisory Vacancy. A vacancy currently exists on the City of Apple Valley's Cemetery Advisory Committee for a three-year term expiring March 1, 2013. The Cemetery Advisory Committee is a standing committee with the full power and responsibility to investigate issues relating to the operation, care, and maintenance of Lebanon Cemetery of Apple Valley, as well as cemetery land needs. For more on the Committee >>> This Committee meets the third Tuesday in January, April, July, and October, beginning at 2:00 p.m., at the Municipal Center. Persons interested in submitting their names for consideration must file an application with the City Clerk by 4:30 p.m., March 31, 2010. Application form >>>.

APPLE VALLEY ARBOR DAY TREE AND SHRUB SALE. The City of Apple Valley is sponsoring a Tree and Shrub Sale for Apple Valley residents in recognition of Arbor Day (April 30th). Trees and shrubs are available on a pre-ordered and pre-paid basis. The following 6-8' trees are available: Japanese tree lilac, river birch (clump form), whitespire birch (single-stem), American sentry linden, sugar maple, and swamp white oak. The shrubs are 2-3' tall with the following available: American hazelnut, serviceberry, black chokeberry, gray dogwood, and nannyberry. View pictures >>> A maximum of five (5) trees and/or ten (10) shrubs can be ordered (lesser amounts can also be ordered). Tree and shrub orders will be package and ready for pickup on Saturday, April 24, 2010, at the Central Maintenance Facility, 6442 - 140th Street. Residents will receive a postcard with pick-up time. Request for Proposals (RFP) -- Trail and Sidewalk Plan. The City of Apple Valley seeks professional consulting services to prepare a comprehensive Trail and Sidewalk Plan. Attention Business Owners and Proprietors: The City of Apple Valley now has a web-based survey so that we can learn how the local business community is remaining vital in the economic downturn. The 21-question survey covers topics ranging from sales forecasts to facility expansion to the business climate in Apple Valley. We think this is one more tool that will help the City to continue to strengthen the partnerships we have with local businesses. We're hoping you'll take the time to fill out the survey, which should take about 10 minutes. Residential Rental Registration Program. The City of Apple Valley adopted a rental registration ordinance effective November 20, 2007. This ordinance requires the owners of any residential rental property to register with the City. For more information on this program >>>

Flood Insurance Program. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved the City of Apple Valley for eligibility for the National Flood Insurance Program. This program enables property owners to purchase insurance protection against losses from flooding. At this time, the City will be in the first stage of the program, called the Emergency Program. Street Light Maintenance. Is there a burned out street light in your neighborhood? If so, contact Dakota Electric at 651-463-6287. If possible, note the identification number on the pole and relay it to
Dakota Electric. With this number, Dakota Electric knows the exact location of the pole. If you do not know the pole number, please provide the closest address. In addition to replacing burned out bulbs, Dakota Electric repairs broken globes and adjusts the sensitivity of the light sensors.
