The City of Apple Valley provides many local services such as police
and fire protection, building
inspections, street maintenance,
water and sewer service,
park maintenance, and recreation services.

Other services, such as ambulance
and bus service,
are provided jointly by Apple Valley and other governments. Other government
entities provide services such as school and educational service, county
road maintenance, and social services.
There are also other commonly used services that are provided by private
entities such as cable television, electricity, natural gas, telephone
service, and motor vehicle registration. The City does
not provide license services for vehicles or DNR transactions. This
service is provided by Dakota County as well as a private company.
