Education
The Apple Valley Fire Department is committed to making our city as fire safe as it is beautiful. We present comprehensive prevention programs (consistently) throughout the year to Apple Valley schools, daycare facilities, local businesses, civic groups, and senior living communities. Whether speaking to citizens at their place of residence or in one of our fire stations, we know that fire safety education is the best tool we have to reduce hazards and prevent fires. Firefighters tour buildings and perform exterior pre-plan assessments in order to maintain readiness in the event that a response is needed.


Prevention
The Apple Valley Fire Department also works with commercial business owners to ensure that their buildings meet all state and local fire codes. The Fire Marshal  and Fire Inspector make regular (scheduled) physical inspections of new construction and remodeling projects in our commercial community. They also perform recurring inspections for all commercial properties including apartment buildings and places of assembly.

Prevention is strengthened with partnerships that include educating the students in Independent School District 196; demonstrating fire suppression systems with Uponor, a local fire sprinkler manufacturer; performing fire extinguisher training at several businesses; and by working closely with state legislators and elected city officials to facilitate stability of our fire safety needs.
