2021 Tree Sale - SOLD OUT
There was tremendous interest in the 2021 Tree and Shrub Sale and all available items are currently sold out.
The City will offer the sale again next spring and will likely alter the allowable quantities so more residents can participate. Please check out the local garden centers and greenhouses for your planting needs this spring.
Apple Valley’s Urban Forest
Many species of trees make up the Apple Valley urban forest. Historically, the northerly half of the city was a hardwood forest, and the southerly half was agricultural and gravel mining. Many native species, including oak, elm, basswood, maple, and paper birch, can be found in remnant forest parcels and park lands. Numerous nursery varieties have been planted by landowners. Each tree species comes with its own set of characteristics and problems.
The city provides free tree inspections for concerns or questions you may have about your trees. The city routinely inspects all properties for oak wilt and Dutch elm disease. City inspectors are watching for emerald ash borer symptoms in ash trees. To request a free tree inspection, click here.
