Building Inspections

Responsibilities

The Building Inspections Division of Public Works is responsible for issuing permits and conducting inspections to enforce state building code and city ordinance regulating building, mechanical, plumbing, demolition of structures, septic systems, and manufactured housing. The City of Apple Valley adopts the state code by ordinance in Chapter 150 of the Apple Valley Code of Ordinances.

The City of Apple Valley transitioned to electronic permits and plan review software on April 11, 2018. 

You can call the Inspections Department to schedule an inspection.

Electrical inspections can be scheduled by calling (507) 381-1791 between 7:00 am and 8:30 am, Monday through Friday.
