[ARCHIVED] Free Gardening Workshops

We’re skipping winter and jumping to spring! Landscaping for Clean Water workshops in Dakota County start in February when the snow blower is broken and the plow dumps a foot of snow on the end of your driveway. Follow the link to learn more…

Landscaping for Clean Water workshops are being offered by Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District this winter and spring.  The free Introductory Workshop provides an overview of water quality challenges in Dakota County and how native plant gardens, raingardens, and native shoreland plantings installed in our yards can be part of the remedy.   At the introductory workshop, you will see dozens of affordable, attractive gardens installed by residents throughout the county and learn the next steps to receive design and financial assistance.

After attending the Introductory SWCD proving technical assistance.jpgWorkshop, you will be invited to attend a Design Workshop where you will receive one on one help to create a garden that is perfect for your yard.  Many who attend the Design Workshop will qualify for further technical assistance to help them through the installation process and reimbursement grants to help pay for the cost of their new garden.  Last year 44 homeowners installed gardens with the assistance of this program.

Registration is required.   For workshop dates, additional information or to register, visit www.dakotaswcd.org or call 651-480-7777.
