While spring cleaning this year, please consider these tips that will help you make your yard a more pleasant place to enjoy the warm weather this summer.
Residents of Apple Valley and Dakota County have numerous options available for disposal of yard waste and unwanted household items. Yard waste can be disposed of by transporting the material to numerous yard waste collection sites located in Dakota County, or through your licensed hauler. Unwanted items including house hold appliances, furniture, construction debris, etc. can be dropped off at numerous collections sites, or arranged for special pick-up through your trash hauler. For a complete list of resources and disposal options follow the link below.
Flexible dumpsters should be picked up in a timely manner as City Code recognizes them as a trash nuisance, after two weeks, requiring further enforcement actions. Please schedule pick-up and removal within the two weeks. Flexible or compact dumpsters shall not be placed within the roadway surface of any street and shall be located behind the street curb, must remain a minimum 15 feet from a water/fire hydrant, and may not block any portion of a sidewalk, path or trail.
Snow, ice, and cold winter weather can hinder adequate clean-up of lawn areas after our pets during the winter months. This spring, when the snow and ice melt completely, please remember to clean all lawn and boulevard areas of pet waste thoroughly. This is a great way to make your yard a more pleasant place and to be a great neighbor!
